Olympic National Park

We're thinking about visiting Olympic Nat. Park this summer. We'll be towing our trailer and have a few weeks to spend.
What do you folks suggest to see? Where should we visit, and camp?

The park it's self is mostly remote, there are camp grounds all along US 101 between Shelton and Port Angeles, which are usual first come first served. Hurricane ridge is the high point in the park. it is worth the time to go see.
  • Ft Warden State Park. Ft Flagler State Park. Don't miss the Hohe Rainforest. Beautiful! 2nd to the highest rainfall on earth. Near Sequim, (Pronounced Squim) head over to the water to see Dungeness spit and light house. Also see the rocky tide pools of the Straights Of Juan De Fuca. There's lots more. The Peninsula is one terrific place to explore. Those are a few of my favorite. Too many things to list. Love it there. My Favorite National Park. Grew up going there all the time.
  • Sol Duc Hot Spring Spa Resort. They have a RV park too! $9.00 for day use of all the spa's in the resort, You'll love it! Hurricane Ridge.
  • A few years ago we did Salt Creek & Tongue Rec Area (county). Nice park. Great views over the straght. Easy day trips into Olympic Park.
  • We loved Rest-A-While RV park. Easy access, fantastic unrestricted view, but otherwise just a full hookup lot. But it was so restful we returned last year for another quiet week. It is sort of central, with day trips in each direction. About an hour from Port Angeles. Don't miss the Rain Forest.
    Enjoy and Happy Trails.
  • Take your passports, grab a passenger ferry in Port Angeles, and take a day trip to Victoria. Spend a day walking around the town. Or go a couple of days and spend one at Butchart Gardens.
  • Salt Creek Recreation area is nice as are Fort Worden or Fort Flagler State Parks. They are all an easy drive to Hurricane Ridge for some wonderful views and hiking opportunities. Definitely take the ferry for Port Angeles to Victoria. You can then hop on a city bus which will take you to Butchart Gardens cheaply. It's an all-day trip.
  • The Hoh area is worth a few days for sure. We liked Hard Rain:

    Hard Rain RV

Very quiet and peaceful. Phenomenally excellent food at the cafe -- not what you would expect in such a remote place.
  • We have been summering on the Olympic peninsula for years. There is so much to see and do in the park you won't even come close to seeing and/or experiencing it all in one visit. I would suggest you visit the ranger stations at Kalaloch AND Port Angeles. Drive 101 around the peninsula. We love the ocean but the Hood Canal is also a wonder. See the town of Forks where the Twilight series is based. Ruby beach at sunset and La Push. Remember we summer there because it is the land of natural air conditioning. I like to tell people don't come to the lower '48's' on natural rain forest and complain if it is raining.

if you have specific questions, feel free to p.m. me.
