Anybody have an opinion on either one of these? We are looking at them for end of summer 2015. Beverly Beach Camptown on the AtlanticCamp Gulf on the Gulf.Our goal is waterfront camping and being near some attractions/restaurants for the evening.

For Destin many of us use Henderson Beach SP, or Topsail Hill Sp.Henderson is right on the water. Topsail is a real RV resort but is a half mile from the water by tram, bike, or walk.Camp Gulf is tight...

Are any of the sites at Henderson on the water, or are they pretty far away? Do you have a favorite site there? ThanksDisregard, I just looked on Google Earth. Thats the type of place we like to stay around home, but if Im driving 12 hours I want to be right on the water and not have to walk back and forth from the camper. If I didn't have a little one it wouldn't be as big a deal either

Henderson Beach SP is a nice one. Unless you have young kids, don't consider Camp Gulf. Haven't been to Beverly Beach but the Flagler beach area has plenty of restaurants and sights to see. We thoroughly enjoy St. Augustine too.

Full hookups, resort amenities, room to breathe, mature tree lined sites, a swimming pool, and a handy tram ride to the pristine beach. We drive 1000mi every year to get there , and have returned 12 times!Henderson is very nice but no FHU.Restaurants and shopping in this area is spectacular also.

If anybody has anything else to add we are all ears. We aren't attached to any one area. These were just a couple I found from searching on this forum

Topsail is not a beachside campground. You are at least 1/2 mile from the dunes before the beach area. Lovely resort style campsites.

Double ditto. Their 30 amp Fhu is not out of line with other cg rates. St Augustine is a favorite destination for us. Their docents are always doing demos and let the kids help. The Fort and the restaurants are great too.

Beverly is a square flat sand/crushed shell parking lot next to the Hyway. The ONLY reason to go there is to get an (EXPENSIVE) waterfront site. Its usually windy so U'r rig will get coated with salt spray. Wash it & under as soon as possible.

A few months ago I spent two weeks at Gamble Rodgers State Park. Instead of backing in to our site, I went nose in. That maneuver required a 50 amp extension to plug in. We had a great ocean view. No sewer hook ups at Gamble Rodgers but a dump in the camping area. There are numerous restaurants close. We had a great time and have a reservation for October. I did have a lot of corrosion to address after our visit. It was good swimming, good fishing and the facilities were spotless. The only issue is getting a reservation. Gamble Rodgers is not a secret. For us, if I had the opportunity to stay at Beverly Beach (just a few miles away) or Gamble Rodgers, I'd pick Gamble Rodgers. JMHO

Beverly Beach is as prior posts described. A sand parking lot, packed in pretty tight. But still, it is unique. Gamble Rodgers is very nice, sort of tough to get a space, but worth it. Another option in that general area is Coral Sands Hotel in Ormond Beach.... they have a full hookup RV section and you have use of the hotel facilities including pool,etc. The RV park is not fancy, just a sand lot, but it is on the beach . On the Gulf, I would stay at Topsail..as the tram right to the beach is a nice little ride...or if you have bikes....a nice ride with no cars....
I found camping on the Gulf to be a rip off dollar wise...and not not much of a campground really

Everyone's ideas on camping is different. If I go to the beach I don't want a mile walk to the beach like at topsail. And Henderson beach doesn't have full hook ups I don't think and no pool.
We are at camp gulf right now and this is our second year to come here. The sites are small and expensive but that is what you have to sacrifice for beach front property. All the sites are full hook up except beach front which have a pump out service for $10 a day.
