OR-WA Coat to Olympic Peninsula

We are going to travel up the Oregon Washington coast this coming April. We are looking for nice places to stay and things to do and see. We will be starting at at Heceta Beach RV Park(highly recommended) outside of Florence, OR and heading north. We like outdoor activities like hiking, photography and kayaking. We have a 42' RV with a residential refrigerator so we need hookups. We travel with a 2 year old great dane. Any "must see" or "must do" sites along this route? Any things to avoid? Any suggestions appreciated.
  • Well, that's definitely not my understanding of the Oregon Shellfish regulations. But I'll check on it next time I'm there. Also, I never saw the little store by the public pier selling crab. I'll have to check that out too.

Crabbing from the CITY pier is free, no license required. I'm too lazy most of the time to catch my own and usually buy them where you rent the rings.
  • We really like the Yachats/Waldport/Newport area, especially Cape Perpetua and Yaquina Head Outstanding Natural Area.

If you have your own kayaks, you can kayak in the Alsea Bay at Waldport and in Beaver Creek at Brian Booth State Park/Ona Beach.

  • We spend a lot of time on the OR WA Coast. With your size rig and must have full hooks, I strongly recommend that you start making reservations real soon. The Coast is a fantastic RV destination and is very popular in the summer.
Oregon and Washington State Parks are all in prime locations and are first rate.

Have a good trip and see you on the Coast.
  • Do you have any other reservations? How long do you have for this trip? Any kids or just you folks and the dog? Do you have a towed(I assume you do)?

There are about 783,000 posts on this subject and the number one suggestion is do it the other direction if possible.

    Newport Aquarium.
Waldport crabbing if in season(free, no license).
    Newport Waterfront.
    South Beach park in Newport.
    Beverly Beach CG.
    Cape Disappointment.
    Ft. Clatsop.
    HOH Rainforest.
    Kalalock CG.

Just a few with no other info.
  • You would normally stay on US 101.
Fort Stevens State Park near Warrenton, OR is good place to stay.
In Astoria visit the Astoria Column
Visit Olympic National Park. Visit the Hoh Rain Forest. Hurricane Ridge
Tatoosh Head is a nice hike to the farthest west point in continental US.
Bring passport and cross over at Port Angeles to Victoria BC. Leave the rig in Port Angeles. Good public transportation in Victoria. Ferry comes in right in down town.
