goducks:
I would hike it, albeit slowly, but hubby has COPD so it would be difficult. Love Eastern Oregon for its diverse topography, rock-hounding and photography opportunities. Yes, we are adventurous types and have wandered around on BLM lands lost until a friendly ranches pointed us in the right direction (looking for Crack in the Ground from the west.). I also like the slower speed limits and the people in the smaller towns. We will be visiting again next April.
Did you stay at Thielsen View or the first campground? Thielsen View was one of our favorite campground son our 6 week Fall trip.
Oregon has it all; evergreen forests and sage brush deserts, swift and lazy streams, waterfalls and rock jumbles, wetlands and playas, rugged coasts and sandy beaches, deep and dry lakes, snow covered mountains and deep gorges.
Happy trails,
Judy
