- spoon059Explorer IIWe are going their with a large group of friends in August, cannot wait to go! Never been to Tennessee, but think it might be where our future home awaits! From what I recall, you will be seeing the sun rise over the lake... give the Eeyore's on the site something to complain about!
Yes, this is an RV Resort, more than a state park. It is located in the gorgeous Smokey Mountains, on a beautiful lake, close to several cities that look to be full of fun and food. Its not for everybody, but the sites look really fun for families with kids (so... my group) and people that want to hang out, drink some beer, have communal meals, visit the local sites and have a great time.
I'm jealous, but I'll be there in about 5 weeks!!! - 1Adam12ExplorerYes, Anchor Down is in Dandridge, TN. It's an easy drive to the Smoky Mountains and all the things to see there.
For any sports fans we ended up attending a Tennessee Smoky's baseball game (AA Affiliate Cubs) and it was great. The ballpark is really nice, inexpensive and 10 minutes from the campground.
The site we were on is 29. It's elevated and has a great view which is partially shown with the picture.
We've camped at every kind of campground know to man from the Ocala National Forest to Ft. Wilderness in Orlando. They each have their good points and some not so much. We enjoy another "parking lot"in South Carolina at Ocean Lakes. We've enjoyed many wooded sites in North Georgia, Bryson City, NC and all Florida State Parks.
Book early as the summer gets full quick, - JuzaxadarExplorerIs that the Anchor Dawn in Tennessee? That looks great!
- Pirate1ExplorerStayed there once and like the other negative nancy, I agree, too much hardscape and not enough green. No desire to go back.
- Dance_ChickExplorerIt's also relative to where someone is from. I'm from central FL like the OP. This is not a view we get in our neck of the woods...water, yes, but mountains, no. Heck, we've had lots of sites with NO view at all. Beautiful view IMO.
- Bob806Explorer IIIIs this near the Smokies?
- SusanDallasExplorerSpectacular View, I am sure you enjoyed your stay. X4 on the negative! If there were trees, you would not have the view. I have stayed at parks on the beach that have no trees. I would rather see the ocean!
You negative people out there, get a life! You would find you would be a lot happier if you dropped your negative attitude. Have A Happy Day! - sgfryeExplorerbtw whats the site number?
- sgfryeExplorerbeautiful view
we camp at state parks, busy beach parks, and "resort" type parks. we enjoy them all for different reason. - drsteveExplorer

Nice view in the background for sure but that “campground” looks like a parking lot to me. No trees, no space, no privacy. No offence meant, to each his own, but not my idea of camping.
Interesting how some see nothing but RV's and Others see nothing But Mountains and a Lake with a Potential for a Big Sunset :S
Must be why the RV thing is just GREAT!!!!!!!!
JMHO,
I see beautiful mountains and a lake, with a parking lot full of RVs in the foreground.
There is a difference between a campground and an RV resort. This is obviously the latter. I would not care for this sort of place, but many people do. To each their own.
