Yes, you can launch your kayaks on the sound side. We love the Cape Hatteras KOA and go there often, particularly off season when it's really quiet (we're retired & our kids are grown up). Our dog loves it also - he can swim in the ocean as well as the sound. There is a little off leash enclosure on the oceanside of the camp where he can be free to play.
