- D___MExplorerBoth are nice. I stay at Hatteras for the reasons mentioned above. Plus Hattaras seems to be a little "saner" then the KOA. I walked over there last year and it seemed that there were a lot more young kids and a lot more beer then at Hatteras. I am not against fun, young love, or drinking. I'm just mad that I can't do them as much anymore.
For the record, I have already made my 2014 reservations for Hatteras. - wbwoodExplorer

Nice place.....enjoyed the stay
Good base location
And only cost $10/night for the site plus $3/night for the dog so $13/night it was GREAT
How did you get it for $10/night? - D___MExplorer

Not really...
Bought the membership years ago at very low resale cost.
The initial outlay was recouped first year.
The yearly dues are recouped quickly each year with just a few uses....then it's cheap camping after that. - Shot-N-AzExplorerWe stay only at CH, but I will admit that the new clubhouse/office at KOA is danged impressive. I'd like to walk through it to see if it is as impressive from the inside as it is outside. It wouldn't cause me to switch my loyalties, but this is one aspect that I think KOA has it over CH.
- 2008WildcatExplorerWe had a group of 12 stay at the KOA last JUne, and it was great.
Had plenty for the kids in the group to do, with brand new pool facilities and clubhouse.
The office is new, and has many amenities including rentable apartments.
The bath houses were always clean (which is hard to do at a beach).
We walked through CH while walking the beach, and it is nice also.
You can't go wrong either way. - cindikExplorerThanks all, for the time we want to go, the prices are very similar. They both look good, with the KOA membership, the price is a little bit lower. Can't decide, may have to let the Son choose. All he really cares about is Wi-Fi! HaHa!
- atreisExplorerIMO, take the ferry to Ocracoke and stay in the NP campground.
