Outer Banks

Both are nice. I stay at Hatteras for the reasons mentioned above. Plus Hattaras seems to be a little "saner" then the KOA. I walked over there last year and it seemed that there were a lot more young kids and a lot more beer then at Hatteras. I am not against fun, young love, or drinking. I'm just mad that I can't do them as much anymore.

For the record, I have already made my 2014 reservations for Hatteras.

We liked them both, Camp Hatteras has paved sites and patios and KOA has more kids activities. They are beside each other so the beaches are the same.

We stay at the KOA for a week plus every year. The staff goes out of their way to make it perfection. If you request a site up front, it's only steps to a beautiful beach. Lots of entertainment options there if you have kids. Even our dog has fun - nice little fenced in off leash enclosure. All hookups, wi-fi and cable work well and the bathhouse is immaculate - separate bathrooms with basin, toilet and shower. We love it there.

Another vote for Camp Hatteras for the same mentioned things! :C

And only cost $10/night for the site plus $3/night for the dog so $13/night it was GREAT

Depends on what you like to do ... if you like to drive on the beach and surf fish, you need to head further down the island. Frisco Woods campground is our favorite ... sound side views, and close to beach access.

We were at Camp Hatteras 2 months ago, while I didn't see the KOA, CH would be hard to beat.

Hello, We stayed at Camp Hatteras this past April. We had a great site across the street watching the sunset every night. It was an excellent site.Also very quiet in April when we were there. We will be going back there again. The KOA was still being rebuilt when we were there. Looked nice.

Been to both but before the rebuild of the KOA. Like CH better for the same reasons as Harold above. If you don't need a lot of amenities, Ocean Waves might be better for you. Have not stayed there but have not heard anything bad about it.

KOA has been completely rebuilt in the last year, it's pretty nice in there. Both of them are too expensive for my wallet though, I stay at Ocean Waves Campground for less than half the amount.
