Ain't gonna happen in the summer. People go up there, park and knock on every campsite, or send their kids out trying to find out when someone is leaving. The OP is already complaining about prices and cramming, and Rincin is no different than anywhere else in that area.. It's both

Try Ventura County Parks, Rincon Parkway, $27/day, information 805-645-3951, It is called an RV Overnight Parking Zone. 7 day limit in summer. All RVs park facing south, enter from Bates I believe. Best to look up yourself or call the 805 number.

I think this is as good as you'll get. No Services, I don't think there is even water there.

It is old Hwy 101, abandoned and deeded to Ventura County.

Wont say it is cheap but we enjoy Ventura Beach RV Resort

You can try Foster Park, a Ventura county park. It is a few miles up the 33 from the 101, but it is relativly unknown, quiet in the evening, and offers paved full hook-up sites for $35 a night. If you are more than 2 weeks out, you can reserve a site, if not and during the week there is almost always something. Weekend you might be out of luck. There are 16 sites, 10 are paved full hook up and easy to access, the other 6 at the end of the road, are dirt and not level (I have stayed in site 16 with my 22ft TT but getting through the trees was TIGHT!) We have stayed here many times as our quick get away and have been happy. Walk up the road a bit and check out the old Foster Bowl, an old outdoor ampitheater. You could also try lake Casitas a little further up the road.

Unfortunately, these are best bets in this area, and what everyone has been saying is the reality. It is very controlled with no where really to park out of sight out of mind, and most camping options are expensive IF you can find anything at all. Our favorite quick get away used to be McGrath SB. But the prices went through the roof, I simply will not pay $45 a night for DRY camping! Foster Park is now our quick get away.

Right now, the Ventura County Fair is going on so even the unofficial boondocking spots are being checked. If you are talking about two weeks from now, send me a p.m. for ideas.

I forgot to mention when I posted earlier that I've evolved a simple method of passing through areas like the one you're "just overnighting" in.

When just traveling from point a-to-b, I organize my schedule so that most of my driving time is at NIGHT, when there's no place to sleep free/cheap. Then, when dawn starts breaking, I head for the nearest day use area, park, and get some z's.

No muss, fuss, or trouble from the authorities, and since six to eight hours of sleep is all I need, there's a lot of the day left when I wake up at noon-to-one o'clock.

This actually works really well if you're just traveling, or even just want to spend a few hours poking around a particular area..

You asked and you are being told by me and everyone else what the reality is around that area. If you think that's patronizing, then good luck. Now you know how your experience will end up.

As others have said, not much at all during summer, but if it is mid week, say Sunday thru Thursday, about the only place in the area that you want to stay isThornhill Broome$35.

Those days are not what you call a "crammer" Many open spots.

Though Walmart Oxnard says no overnighting......the parking lot is also shared by a Sam's Club and other store. There are always a few campers in there between the McDonalds and Sam's Club, right or wrong.
If you are retired Mil there are two campgrounds($30 a night) onboard NBVC.
Ventura Beach RV Resort $70 a night. IT is right on the 101. Don't know about the beaches but, there are also tons of campers all along the PCH.
