Parking in St. Louis?

If you're interested merely in parking while visiting (rather than camping), have you tried giving the museum a call? They may have suitable parking available, or be able to suggest what would be appropriate. School groups and others with busses do go quite regularly to the museum; it's not completely devoid of infrastructure for large vehicles.

If camping overnight, I would probably tend to use the St Louis RV Park and walk the few blocks. If camping for a spell, I'd probably camp elsewhere and figure out public transit or whatever to visit the museum.

And in my opinion, the glowing reviews are fully deserved; it's a unique and wonderful place for children and adults willing to see things as children once in awhile. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit a couple years ago (by car, so parking was simple) and would love to go back sometime.

I'd do the St. Louis RV Park rather than the casino in East St. Louis.

If you can spend a few days in the area and want to see other sites then try to get a spot at Edmund Babler State Park. It's a beauty. It's huge, has beautiful large trees and grassy manicured sites. It's great for biking, hiking and even has a pool. It's also close to the interstates to take you siteseeing.

Even if you park as far away as possible.....in the main lot....it isn't but about 3 city blocks to the station.

I would also park at the Casino Queen. We had no trouble following the direction to the casino and the security there is great. Flag down a security van and ask them to drop you at the Metro. We felt safe taking it but that was during the daytime hours. We took a tour of the Cardinals stadium and the Arch and went to a ball game. There is big rig parking available in the parking lot and I suppose you can even dry camp if the campground was closed. The staff at Casino Queen is very friendly and helpful. Children are not allowed in the Casino but I believe they can eat at the restaurants.

And right now St Louis has a ton of road construction going on. You'll have to walk a few blocks, but your frustration level will be much less.

I would NOT take an RV into "downtown".....or anywhere near downtown if you will have to park it.

Fetch up the MetroLInk map online and find a good, free parking place near to a station. I'm assuming that the museum is near a station too.

The Casino Queen has a huge parking lot; the casino, not the camp ground and would be a good place to park for a few hours. Getting there can be an adventure as taking a wrong turn in East St. Louis can get you to some LOW underpasses.

Wow, as often as I see Lonny and Diane out here, I've never done that before. Our modes are so different from theirs. But here, there is that one good choice.

We often use the casino as a ONP on our way west, but because of our schedule, the RV park is rarely open. When it is, it is good.
