Pennsylvania RV campgrounds

My wife and I are looking for places near The Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania and Flight 93 memorial

We need a site for a 42 ft 5th wheel

Looking for a nice place for a week.

Thanks

  • Unfortunately, we visited the real Grand Canyon first, which left us very underwhelmed by both the PA and NY miniature versions. Of the two, I think the NY version is more "canyon like" rather than the forested valley in PA. We visited the PA "canyon" while staying at the Tompkins COE park near Tioga, PA, and the NY "canyon" while staying at Letchworth State Park near Castile, NY.

    Grand enough for me...

We stay at Leonard Harrison SP and walking down the Turkey Path is grand also...

  • While traveling between the two locations, be sure to check out Benezette(sp?) To see the Pa elk herd. There is a campground linked to the town's store and when we stayed there cow elks walked right through while we were grilling.
  • There is a private campground at the southern end of the "canyon" called Pettecoat Junction that is creek front. It also has the rail trail right next to it.

While it isn't the Grand Canyon, it is beautiful country.

  • I'm hoping you realize those two locations are 3-4 hours driving between them. I would suggest 3-4 days near one and then move to the other. There is a state park right at the PA grand canyon. Leonard Harrison State Park that has a camp ground but no full hook-ups. There are some electric sites. Personally I would rather visit Ricketts Glenn State Park. If you are capable of a leisurely walk including steps, walking the falls trail beats the heck out of the 10 minutes it takes to overlook the grand canyon.
