Perseids next Wed nite/Thurs am -- hit the boonies!

We are crossing our fingers that we will see it in west central Idaho. It's pretty dark at the lake that time of night.

I was going to Utah,But decided on Ariz so I can still have a campfire
Right now is 50-50 chance of clouds.If campground is full plenty a dispersed camping south of the canyon.Also I am breaking in my new camper.:B
Was thinking of going to Chaco Canyon,but don't want to go by myself the south route thru the Res.

Great new pop-up -- there is no place you can't go with that rig.

But remember, a campfire can mess up your night vision -- it takes 15 minutes of total darkness to fully adapt. ;)

Campfire is for after dinner when it is dark or cloudy
Will get up around 2 if it is clear to skywatch

RWD, maybe hold off on that campfire on Wednesday evening? Some of the very best meteors are just after sundown -- they are the "earthgrazers," which are slower and more colorful than the early morning meteors (which are more plentiful). An astronomer told me that they are slow because they are like raindrops going across the back window of a car, rather than raindrops slamming into the windshield. As the earth turns, it rotates into the debris stream left by the comet -- the evening sky is the back window of the car, and the morning sky is the front windshield.

Quick side question... I've been getting up in the middle of the night to check out the stars for years, never had a problem. The last couple years I get up, go outside, and the eyes can't focus the sky! anyone else? And yes, I have my glasses on. Wondering if it takes longer and longer for the eyes to focus when you wake up as you get older, or is it just me! I have not just sat there for an hour to see if they clear up, I just go back to bed.

Theres still 50% chance of rain or clouds
During monsoon usually clouds at night ,clear bb early morning
If clear by thurs morn,will there still be metiors onthurs??

Naw.. the stars are getting out of focus. Global warming.

At least the moon is in the perfect phase this year
