We agree with Hunting Island. We have labs and when we had two, who are now deceased, we would go up on the north end, also. We got caught by the ranger, but he just told us not to do that anymore...we didn't. I would guess that 95% of the people camping there have dogs with them. It's amazing how many you see.
Also, James Island County Park outside of Charleston has a great dog park that is on a peninsula, so the boundaries are water. Dogs can swim, splash, run, etc. It's great.
