- wbwoodExplorerGo down about a half mile or mile past ocean lakes into surfside. Turn left at light and go all the way until it dead ends. Make a right and look on your right for "Bubba's Fish Shack". Great seafood at a great price.
- hmknightncExplorerIt's a great campground right on the ocean with nice beach. It's our favorite of the MB group. We're there every Labor Day and a couple other shorter weekends every season.
- D___MExplorerWatch out you don't get run over by a golf cart.

Yep, golf cart heaven. Get used to golf carts rolling by your site blaring all types of music. Seems to be the resident thing to do to show off how "awesome" their cart is to all the visitors. Want to rent one from the campground, you'll pay more than renting an economy car from a car rental place. No joke.
The pool and new splash pad are quite a walk from the beach. If you're close to one, you've got a way to go to get to the other.
Other than that, it's not a bad place. Oceanside sites are tighter than the interior spots and are wide open, the only shade being under the canopy built on the site and your awning. The beach is awesome and, if they haven't changed the rules since we've been, they allow dogs on the beach. - dodge_guyExplorer IIWe just got back from Pirateland yesterday. awesome place. we had an ocean front site #854. we really loved the place. yes there are Golf Carts, but it is a fun thing to do. everyone decorates their carts and parades back and forth along the ocean sites. but it stops promptly at 11 p.m. IMO Pirateland is the nicest. Me and my son walked down to Ocean Lakes and Lakewood. Piratelands sites are bigger.
Enjoy the area, but stay out of downtown MB, way to tacky and seedy! we liked Broadway at the Beach much better. everything along the 17 bypass is much nicer! - K_CharlesExplorerNo dogs on the beach in the summer from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- justaboutretireExplorerKeep an eye on the weather! A storm will come out of no where. If you leave the campground, roll the awning up. I have seen many awning ripped off trailers in myrtle beach than anywhere else I have been.
Have a great time. Have not been down there in a few years. Been going north for the past couple of years.
Bill - TerryallanExplorer IIWe also just got back from PL. It is a great place. the sites in the beach area are HUGE. The inland sites are pretty tight. And in fact. It is cooler in the beach sites, as you get the ocean breeze. Back in the trees, the breeze is blocked.
The pool, and splash zone is not that far from most of the beach sites. And yes there are golf carts. However PL security patrol keeps them well in check. They are not allowed to use them between 11PM, and 7AM. They WILL take them away from you. Also. You can't bring your own. And unlike the other CGS. Only 3 of PL roads go all the way to 17, so there is actually not much Golf cart traffic off the main drag. 4 sites off the beach, you would hardly know there is a golf cart cruise in.
We have stayed at ALL the MB privately owned CGs, and have found PL to be the most quiet, and best patrolled.
And IF you need to go to the grocery store. Turn right out of the CG entrance, and Food Lion is just up the street. Much easier to get to than Wal Mart. Going left and past the light at 544 will take you to a huge water slide, and many restaurants.
We take our bikes to get around in the CG. But IF you do want to rent a golf Cart. They are like $50 per day. And fun to use to explore the park.
Have a blast.
BTW. A big umbrella is a must have for sitting on the beach. The limit in 9 foot. EZup tents are no longer allowed on the beach. Take your umbrella out early to get a good spot. Leave it there all day, and no one will bother it. - pitchExplorer II

We had just the opposite impression of MB. Broadway at the beach is nothing but a corporate sanitized mall. I like my beach towns "seedy" and organic. I hadn't been to MB in 35 years until this last spring and I was shocked and disappointed. We stayed at MBTP,and were happy. - Robin1953Explorer
