Pismo Coast Village is much nicer, and closer to stuff as others have said.

You can walk to restaurants and there is one near the onsite store, cab service is available. I saw cards on the bulletin board at the store for them.

When I was there a large rally was going on and it was very quiet, it seems that the people there are well mannered.

If going in November it may be full around Thanksgiving. I would check ahead.
  • Pismo Sands is further from the beach and stores, smaller in size then Pismo Coast. If you do not have a toad or other transportation. I would pick Pismo Coast you can walk to Pismo Beach from Pismo Coast.
We stay at Pismo Sands because it's only 1 mile from Grandchildren.
  • Pismo Sands is just a mile from the Ocean. Pismo Coast Village is ON the ocean. However, you cannot see the ocean from your site, the RVs are in a depression with the offices on a ridge that blocks the ocean view. However, you can walk up to the deck area with your chair and sit back and watch the ocean. Because of a natural sandbar the walk from the park to the waves is rather long. You are only a block or two from Pismo pier with pier fishing and restaurants.
We've stayed at Pismo Coast Village, and have found it very nice. Very difficult to get in season reservation, so we don't frequent the park. We have never stayed at Pismo Sands, and don't remember driving by the facility.
