Place To Stay in Washington, month of August

It's pushing $48 for a car and driver from Anacortes to the San Juan Islands. The add $13 per person. It's a bill for my family to get back to the islands. A beautiful amazing place to live. It cost me $148 to get my 34 ft moho across last April. We've since brought it back to Anacortes for storage and w/end use.

The WA State ferries are relatively inexpensive if you aren't taking your car. For example, from Bainbridge to Seattle roundtrip costs $7.70 for an adult and $6.20 for a child. When we take our car from Port Townsend to Whidbey Island the roundtrip cost is ~$30 with a driver and one passenger. Taking our 40' MH and car one-way on that same trip was ~$80.

While folks have been touting Port Townsend, nobody's mentioned the county fairgrounds, which is actually IN Port Townsend, not far from Worden State Park, and has very inexpensive camp sites with hookups. We stayed there a couple years ago, and while it is a parking lot type campground, it is cheap.

It is a one hour drive from Port Townsend to Bainbridge where the ferry to Seattle leaves at 45-60 minute intervals and takes you to downtown Seattle in 30 minutes.

As for Canada, Port Townsend is a 45 minute drive from Port Angeles from which a ferry can take you to Victoria (Vancouver Island). Or you can take the 30 minute ferry from Port Townsend to Whidbey Island and drive another ~45 minutes to the south side of the Vancouver metro area.

There is no direct ferry service, but we found these to be quite acceptable choices.

John Wayne RV Resort, just out of Sequim has free and great wifi as well as free cable TV and full hookups plus a gorgeous view of Sequim Bay!!

Just be aware that there is no direct ferry service to Canada or Seattle from Port Townsend.

I too would recommend Port Townsend. In addition to Fort Worden, I have also stayed at the Port Hudson marina at the north end of town. Convenient walk to places from there. Bus service is also available around town and even out to Fort Worden.

LeMar Acres, a mobile home park in the town of Yelm is in the process of closing down - long term project, definitely will not be out of business by the end of August. They have a number of open sites that can accomodate an RV. We "camped" there for over six months in 2003 while having a house built. Grocery store, gas stations and other shopping within easy walking distance. The owner recently passed away and the kids are wrapping things up, sorry but I do not have any contact information. Cell towers less than 1/2 mile south.
