Going to be headed out that way for the weekend soon and didn't know where to stay. The KOA is 50 bucks!, beside we prefer boondocking much more. I have never stayed out that way before. We are going on a dog sled tour on the trails around fish lake, should be a blast.
Thanks,
PS, got chains front and rear, plus a winch for the deep snow
Boondocking in back of Fish lake could be the biggest mistakes you ever made. Anyways... pull up a map of Chiwawa river road. Road ends at mine called Trinity. We've had our old rental beast, Magestic back there many times DURING good weather, boondocking right along the river and loved it. You don't say what your RV is. It's not easy to turn around a trailer on a ice and snow covered one lane road. You ever back up a trailer couple miles because you don't want to risk leaving the ice/mud pile road your on to chance it turning around.
Dog sled place probably knows best place. If staying on hard surface...Coles Corner, rest area closer to pass and RV spots in Leavenworth. Call the Fish lake "resort" see if they are open in winter. When you make the left off HWY 2 grab the phone number of the tow truck guy at corner, you might need him, if you have cell service.
