Quartzsite

Was wondering how safe Quartzsite area is for boondocking. Can you leave your camper and go site seeing for the day and not get ripped off? Only stayed in Quartzsite one night while passing thru and that was at a RV park.

Just reading a thread under RV Lifstyle.. sounds like a sheethole...think ill pass on boondocking there.
That thread isn't about the Q.
  • My brother goes every year. But, he meets up with the Montana Owner's Club. They have around 20 rigs, so he is never really alone.

  • Drove through that place,,coming to 29 Palms a real park. Looked, saw and went, what a dump. Getting something for "free" is not what is "too" good.
    My 2 p.
  • Have heard stories both good and bad regarding the boondocking locations at Q.

Like others have posted be sure to lock up any valuables where they can't be seen.

One of the stories I heard was an RV'er had his generator chained to the frame of his TT. It was running at night while he watched TV. All of the sudden the TV and lights died. He ran out of the TT and discovered his generator had been stolen. It was so dark he couldn't see anyone but he knew they had to be close by. Never saw or heard a vehicle. The lock had been cut.

Just lock your Rv at the big Mall, the small Mall is nota problem.
  • Yes, it's safe. Except don't leave valuable outside... like most places. Stow your bikes, generator, etc.
