At the Vermont state parks, at least, "walk-in" or "walk-up" sites are ones that don't have vehicle access to the sites, and so are unusable with any sort of RV. I'm glad that, from the sounds of things, you aren't trying to camp in one of them.
Yes you are correct...I may have used poor terminology in the original post. I'm referring to "first-come-first-served" sites. They do have walk in sites at the CG in question and I do remember a time or two observing an a new arrival scratching a head when they realize the site they reserved is up on a grassy hill with no driveway.
"Walk-up" means different things in different states. In Colorado state parks "walk-up" means a site that is not reserveable and available for anyone who takes it. Includes RV sites.
