I would stay at Mt Pleasant KOA before returning to Oak Plantation. More for my son to do and the sites are larger. However Oak Plantation is nice if you need to be on that side of Charleston.
I'll be at James Island County Park that weekend. We booked our sites last year. Good luck. That is the week they start the Holiday Festival of Lights.
