Recommendations for a Late April Camping Trip

Hello All,
I am looking for a recommendation for a nice campground with full hookup in the springs area of Florida. I want to do some Kayak Fishing but I can't imagine camping with 3 or 4 hundred others; some privacy is important. Anyone have personal experience in this area?

  • Most of the Florida state parks do not have full hookups. Caverns is the exception.

We spent a week at a private campground on the west bank of the Suwanee. I believe it is called Suwanee River rendezvous. It is near Mayo. Full hookups. Access to the Suwanee. There are several State Parks nearby: Lafayette Blue Springs, Ichetucknee, Peacock Springs, and Troy Springs
  • Hey Tom! How ya doing! We made it back form Florida Caverns just fine. Great campground... and full hook-ups, but did have to leave early (on Christmas day) because of flooding for the rains in Georgia a few days earlier. There's really nice backwaters and channels at Florida Caverns. Simply an awesome State Park! How did that RV cover work out for you? Good luck on finding that campsite.

  • No recommendations for a campground, but by late April, a good percentage of the snow birds will be heading back North. Find a campground or a spot you're interested in, give them a call, and see what the availability is. And ... um ... watch for alligators!
