To answer your question - Burleson or Mansfield isn't a good camping area.
Lake Benbrook COE Holiday Park and Cedar Hill State Park are the best options for the southern side of Fort Worth. Lake Benbrook doesn't have sewer hookups, but Cedar Hill State Park does have them available.
I don't think there is any major construction on the south side of FW, especially on I-20 and I-35.
You want to avoid anything which would put you on TX-174 between Cleburne and Burleson - Eleventy-eleven stop lights on that route.
There are two RV parks shown on US-67 between Alvarado and Cleburne, and two in southern Mansfield off US-287. Haven't been to any of them, so don't know about the condition of the parks.
