Does anyone have any recommendations for good campgrounds/RV sites around the panhandle Florida area? We are coming from middle Georgia and want something we can get to in about 7 hours or less. We really like the Ft. Benning recreation campground in Destin but it is definitely not big rig friendly. We have a 38 foot diesel class A . We are new at this so don’t know where all the great sites are yet. We want something on the water so my husband can fish but doesn’t have to have a beach, and we are military so any ideas on military installations are welcome also. We want full hook ups so this may eliminate state parks.Thanks in advance for any ideas you send my way!

The Florida State Parks has some excellent parks on the Gulf. St Andrew's, St George and St Joseph's Peninsula SP for a start. Those are more or less south of Tallahassee. Florida Caverns and Three Rivers are near the GA border I believe. Eglin AF Base may have something but I haven't heard of it. Three Rivers would be fishing friendly. Check out this site:MapOcklockonee SP is another park probably good for fishing. Most of the other parks east of Panama City (that I didn't mention) probably aren't suitable. You can check site sizes on the ReserveAmerica site.I found this on Eglin but I'd guess it's way out of your 7 hour range:EglinDepends on where you are in GA.

Thanks. I will check these out. I had heard that most state parks didn't have full hookups so I hadn't looked into them yet. Also we drove through Eglin and they actually have 2 different campsites but the one that is on the water isn't full hookup either. That is a good general area though. It takes us about 6 hours by car and 7 in the coach.

We are in Grayton SP right now. We are in a newer loop with FHU, 50 amps. We really like this park, beautiful beach (you do have to drive there.) having said that, it wasn't easy to get a site as we only called about 6 wks. ago. The area is quite nice, good restaurants as well.

There are a lot of very good (and expensive) private parks in the Destin/Navarre area. We just left St. Rosa Sound RV Resort in Navarre. Gorgeous. Saw a couple of the guys in the park out fishing in waders right next to the campground. We had a waterfront site. I saw fishing jumping right next to our site every evening. http://rvparkreviews.com/ is a great resource providing reviews by other RV'ers. Also the 'find a campground' under the 'plan a trip' area of the very site your at is most helpful.

Ho Hum RV Park is right on the gulf in Carrabelle, FL. There are a couple of military parks around the Panama City area. I use this site to locate Fed/State/City&County parks. It might be of help to you.

Looking at pics of Ho Hum and can't tell, are there concrete pads or do you park on gravel, sand or what? Other than that, it looks like an awesome place!

We found this place in Freeport, FL. Live Oak Landing. It's a brand new park and beautiful! Private boat dock, charter fishing service, access to River, Bayou, Choctawhatchee Bay and Gulf. Just minutes drive to the beaches. Long, level, pull thrus with full hookup, beautiful oak trees. We have stayed at several of their parks and love them. They have weekly rates. Not sure about monthly.

X2 on NAS Pensacola. We'll be at Oak Grove in about 10 days. Naval
Station Mayport is right on the water. Extremely nice Famcamp there. Wins awards every year. Both are big rig friendly and FHU.
