Red Canyon Campground, Dixie National Forest, Utah

On our last day at Bryce Canyon National Park, we drove a few miles up the road to check out the Red Canyon Campground in the Dixie NF. I am always on the lookout for a nice place to spend a few days and this looks like a winner.

Just a short drive or bike ride on a real nice paved trail is the Red Canyon Visitor Center. The hosts were real helpful in choosing a trail that was not too strenuous for us.

This is some of what we saw.

More Here...

We are off to the Grand Teton NP on Thursday.
  • With input from a fellow worker we started investigating S. Utah - we had never been there. We made our first trip there just before Christmas, 2009 - Zion, Bryce, Kodachrome SP. We have been back to that area plus S.W. Colorado twice since - did the Grand Circle on our 2nd trip.

If you love red rocks it's the place to be.

With retirement looming hoping to head that way again on a fairly regular basis.
  • We were down there in April and loved Bryce, Red Canyon, and nearby Kodachrome Basin. Beautiful country. Thanks for the great pics.
  • Thanks for the great pictures, we just got back from the area 3 week trip and love it.
  • Enjoyed your beautiful pictures of Red Canyon and Bryce Canyon in earlier posts.

Please post pictures when you get to Grand Teton, our favorite place. DW and I are having withdrawal symptoms, as we can't head west this year.

BTW, our favorite CG in the Tetons is Gros Ventre.
