Drove through there on Sunday on a loop that also included Independence Pass. Red Cliff to Leadville was the highlight of the trip. Some good color around Twin Lakes, but on up Independence Pass and dropping into Aspen was disappointing. Many tress hadn't begun to change, yet there were stands where the leaves had gone straight to brown and dropped off.
The Aspen are on their own time zone - Looking a the Ski cam in Aspen looks like the Bells would have been perfect this weekend for Photo's.
Ken - does you phone have a Camera? With all your drives it would really be nice if you shared a few Images - you know what they say "a Picture is worth a .............." Even when you always say it so clearly, I would love to see some from your Minds Eye.
Rt 24 is just a Beautiful Drive and Minturn to Red Cliff to Leadville has some really special Looks, Maybe this weekend for Independence Pass, there was still a strong influence of Green in the trees, but they sure were Special.
Wish I were there for more than just the tree's.
