Remote Florida state parks

I am looking for remote north central Florida state parks that have little to nothing so far as electric water and showers. The less people the better. Just need to get away for a few days without being around anyone. I have a slide in camper with solar panels that will let me stay off the grid for around 10 days. Any suggestions?

  • State parks won't fit that description. You need to look into National or State FOREST campgrounds. The only ones I know of in that region that somewhat meets your criteria are in the Ocala Nat'l forest east of the town of Ocala. Check out Lake Eaton & Lake Shore camps along Rt. 314 and Grassy Pond near Rt.316.
  • Your town had me stumped for a minute, I suspect it's supposed to be Oxford not Oxfold. I still had to look up Oxford tho.

I don't know of any FL State Parks which would offer what you want. O'Leno right now doesn't have many campers but it has a few.

Have you thought of the little known Florida State Forests? They offer camping and I think you can camp, boondock really, in the Goethe SF section between Newberry and Bronson on State 337. Here's the website:

    Goethe SF

You'd have to check with them about the permit but they are near you.

Other than that what about boondocking in Ocala National Forest?
  • Check FWC.com for management areas. I think you obtain a permit through the Florida Forest service @ 386- 985-7815.

I sometimes take my Jeep out for quite time and cruise those areas. Very rural / primitive!

    Good luck.
