Reno RV Parks

We will be visiting the Reno side of our family for about a week in early September. I have been doing my due diligence on the internet today looking for RV campgrounds with full hookups in safe, comfortable environs. Based upon website reviews and websites I have narrowed it down to the following. I would appreciate feedback from any who have stayed in any of these Reno area RV parks. Thumbs up/Thumbs down. Thanks.

1. Boomtown KOA
2. Bonanza Terrace RV Park, 4800 Stoltz Rd., Reno
3. Shamrock RV Park, 260 Parr Blvd., Reno
4. Grand Sierra Resort & Casino RV Park

  • We have stayed at Grand Sierra in Sept for past several years. The park is well maintained. Nice pool area! No complaints.
  • I would stay in Virginia City if nothing else just for the quiet. Probably a little cooler at that time of year also.
  • Gold Ranch a few short miles west of Reno at Verdi. Very nice.

Boomtown is basically a paved parking lot with painted stripes and a few trees. It is a KOA. I would go somewhere else.
  • We enjoyed a few days at Riverside. Well maintained, easy access with friendly staff and close to town. Only downside it is right under the final approach to the airport, we could count the rivets on the plane. Noise was not intrusive, take offs were in the other direction, and no flights after 9 pm which was good.

    1. Possible

    2 & 3. No way.

    4. Possible good choice.

What we always recommend is Sparks Marina.
  • Side note to my post: If you have a good Reno area RV park recommendation that I missed please tell me about it.
