Rent RV Lot in Foothills, Yuma

We had to cancel all our reservations due to illness. Does anyone have experience with renting people's personal lots in the Foothills area? How do you go about it? I see some advertised on Craigs list. Any pitfalls I should know about?

If we can get this under control we will still head for Yuma in February or so, but I expect the major RV parks won't have much available without several moves.
  • We were in Yuma for a few days in November, there were numerous RV lots available at that time. My suggestion would be to check into an RV park (we stayed at Fortuna de Oro just off Foothills blvd) for a few days, cruise the foothills area and take down the phone numbers of a few lots that you like then make a few calls.

This winter we didn't stay on a lot in Yuma but we did get a monthly rental in November for the 3 previous years ($300 everything included).
  • We are in a park in Yuma but have friends in houses and on rental lots in the Foothills. There are lots for rent everywhere out there, never fills up. Craigs List, Yuma Whitesheets are good places to look. But by February, and a lot isn't rented for the winter, they will be glad to do monthly's. Personally, I'd never make a reservation, site unseen, I'd drive out on the streets and pick something that suited me. You will not find a "full sign".
  • I would NOT worry about it. Drove through the area east of Foothills Blvd and south of the interstate this past week and there are tons of lots for rent. I can not imagine they would all be rented come Feb. Also, the major parks are seeing a downturn in reservations for the winter. Ours has had lots of cancelations and now is saying they will have space available after Christmas for drive ins, which they did NOT forecast a month ago.
