I know that Deer Creek RV and Golf in Davenport has a lot of park models that people rent out, you could call the ranger station and ask if they know of any available rentals(863)424-1985,it's a great resort with everything very close by.

It's a tough one for you if you can't go first and see what it looks like. Regarding renting trailers. IMHO no matter how clean it might be when you look at it. It still has carpet and a lot of cushion type furniture, couch, dinette, etc. that all the cleaning will not take out the inevitable stink. And in Florida there are the roaches to think about.

From what I have seen stopping over at CG's that had rentals I have never seen them spray after the people leave. All I have seen them do is a quick vacuum.

That is why I suggested the cabin rentals at KOA. I was forced to layover at the TN KOA on the way down south for repairs for a week and I chose to stay at the CG in one of their cabins waiting for my MH to be repaired.

There's no carpet and minimal cushion type furniture and they were spotless. When my MH was delivered after repairs I watched how thoroughly they cleaned each cabin after each camper. I was impressed.

IMHO I would look for CG cabins. In Florida most are made of block.

That's the issue, knowing nice from nasty before one puts down $. As there are nice ones out there I'll narrow it down to an area and make inquiry's on specific parks, thanks all for the opinions.

Many are advertised on Craig's List under Vacation Rentals. There are many choices in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas. Some very nice, some nasty.

Florida must have a ton of rentals but I have no idea how to find one. I'd pick a location and do a Google search.

Riverside RV Resort has approximately 5 rental units. They are true RV units and are not located next to each other. This gives your the true RV experience.

Check their web site and call the 800 number regarding availability.

...just retired a couple months ago and we're talking over the possibility of trying a month or 2 next winter to see if the life style is for us.... my wife is quite picky when it comes to cleanliness.

KOA CG's rent real nice cabins at most of their larger CG's.

Won't give you the feeling of actually sitting on top of wheels, but it WILL give you the feeling/experience of what it is like having to live at a CG for an extended period of time.

It has been my experience that these cabins are 'very' nice which would make for a very very happy wife!

Kudo's to you for 'trying' out Snow birding before jumping in with both feet and a big investment for an RV, only to find out it wasn't for you. Good Luck! :C

We have stayed a few times at the Red Coconut RV park in Fort Myers Beach in our own trailer but viewed the rental trailers on site and they were spotless and really quite ok. Often with a screen room. I would not hesitate to stay in one.
