Required signing waiver of responsibilty

It amazes me how some people blame the campground for this type of waiver. When they should be blaming the people that will file a lawsuit against a campground because they were not supervising their own children on the playground and little Johnny fell while going up the sliding board the wrong way.

This is America in 2020. No one is responsible for their actions, it's always the fault of someone else.

The lawsuit lottery is still going strong.

Likely as not you have signed similar when checking into an RV park and did not read all the fine print.

So the guy working on your roof falls off and want's to sue your homeowners policy for his injuries - you avoid this by making sure he has the correct credentials and insurance since why would you want to pay for this?

Campground is doing the same thing - not sure why it is an imposition to sign it. Would you sue the CG if you got hurt there? Or would your insurance cover it?

I guess you wouldn’t mind if the roofer changed the type of shingles after you had signed a contract with him.

If the OP hadn’t paid in full and created a contract with the park I would agree, but they are changing the contract after the fact. This assumes there is no fine print on the reservation form saying you will be asked to sign a release.

The waivers and restrictions you mentioned are not new or unusual.

Implicit in any innkeeper/guest rental is the understanding that the guest will abide by the rules and regulations of the property. Signing a liability waiver is one of those rules and regulations. Furthermore, the innkeeper is free to impose any additional rules that met the very low standard of "reasonable". For example, if you checked into a park and they had not posted a speed limit it would be within their rights to post one while you are staying there and you would be obligated to abide by it. You don't get "grandfathered" in. A waiver of liability is becoming an industry standard across many different types of lodging, including RV parks. Imposition of such a waiver would surely be considered a reasonable addition to a business's rules and regulations.
