Reselling spots at Bahia Honda for $ 900.00

Is that legal?
http://orlando.craigslist.org/vac/4337297387.html

It's posted on Orlando Craigslist:
Rare opportunity to get sites in Bahia Honda State Park on short notice!
2 campsites in high-demand, water-front state park in the Florida Keys. (Big Pine Key area)
Sites were reserved 11 months in advance, however, family plans changed, so we do not have use for these sites this year. Nice, quiet, family park.

These two sites have electric and water, and serve for tents, campers or RV rigs up to 30' or 36'. 50 amp electrical service and water at both sites, shared bath houses.
Sites are reserved for the following dates:
Site #6: March 3-14, 2014, 11 nights and fits RVs up to 36' in length
Site #26: March 4-14, 2014, 10 nights and fits RVs up to 30' in length (this is a shaded site next to water-front sites)
Pet-friendly park

Info about park: http://www.floridastateparks.org/bahiahonda/

We will sell each site for $900
This is less than a commercial RV park nearby, and the water/beach experience is incomparably superior at Bahia Honda. (We know from experience!)

Please refer to State Park website for park questions.
Call Tom to purchase (four-zero-seven, 421-7902). Serious inquiries only.

  • It is very difficult to get a spot in the Keys. Last year, I was lucky enough to spend 5 days at Curry Hammock but with people reserving sites to resell, honest campers can't find a spot.
Even if he really had to cancel, he could do what many members of this forum do: post a cancellation notice and let others enjoy those sites.
    It's disgusting.

For a $10 change fee, you could put the reservation in someone else's name, presumably.

I really do wonder if that's legal.

  • Why doesn't the guy just cancel the reservations? Oh yea, he's making a big buck by scalping instead. I sent FSP the link. Hope to see what happens, if anything.
  • Please report this to the FSP service and RA so we can put a stop to this nonsense now.
