- doxiemom11Explorer IIReserve America's website is not very accurate either. Sites that are walk-in, reservable, rate charged if you qualify for a discount etc.
- Luke_PorterExplorerThe early bird gets the worm, folks. The others--well they complain.

Does that reflect on the system or that you were too late to make reservations? - IAMICHABODExplorer III agree, the selfish ones ruin the camping experience for a lot of people. something MUST be done.
But what? - Us_out_WestExplorer

I think that is a big reason that people cant get the reservations that they want. People reserve more than they can use then cancel days before to get their money back and pay a paltry cancelation fee for them, thus denying others.
I was in a park up north from me that was sold out but was only 1/3 occupied. I asked the ranger and he said that it was common thing.
Empty sites and no money for them and they cant rent them because they have not been released from Reserve America. People just pay $10 cancelation fee.
I think that Reserve America could do one of two things. Charge the price of one day for a cancelation, as many private campgrounds do, that may stop some of it.
Or, not let a person that has an account, which you have to have to use the system, reserve more than one campground on the same dates or overlapping dates. - NanciLExplorer II

We quit using RA. It's the worst reservation system I've ever seen in nearly 50 years of camping
Why ?

Multiple incidents of poor customer service; numerous mistakes in reservations and fees; fees charged for services never received; out of country handlers of your credit card info; you name the problem and RA has committed it. Many former customers have similar complaints.
Hmmmm !
We must have a lot better luck then you. We have been making our winter reservations in the Florida Keys for the past ten years, and never have had a problem that wasn't caused by ourselves.

I tried to reserve a campsite for a two week stay ...
I was told that I would have to move my trailer to a different campsite three times ...
That would entail FOUR reservations and four reservation fees.
I told them to forget it.
Sure enough - on my next CC statement there were charges for four cancellation fees. I called the bank and they cancelled those charges. - magnusfideExplorer II

Is this a thing in other states? In California they go on sale 7 months ahead at 8 AM, like this.
California State Park On-sale Begins October 1 (Tuesday 8AM PDT)
Arrivals for April will be On-sale (Apr 1st through 30th)
Sign-in before 8:00AM PDT for your best on-sale experience (10 minutes before is fine)
On sale FAQs
So the sale opens up for April on Oct first, and May on November first and so on.
Is this operated differently in other states?
