Some states allow overnight parking and in the southwest, some rest stops even have specific areas with covered picnic table and a grill. They are however right next to the interstate so are pretty noisy at night with all the trucks coming and going. We find rest area and truck stop way too noisy. At walmart, we only put are small bedroom slide out. We don't use our jack nor do we use the generator. If it's too hot or cold we will use a campground so we have heat or ac.
