I work from wherever I am via the internet. So, if I pull into a campground at say 9 PM... and get up the following day and work til 4 PM... that would be two days I'd have to pay for a camping spot since I would be departing well after checkout time. Then drive from 5 til 9 or 10 PM again and repeat..... So, in the process of being on the road for 3 night I'd have to pay for 6 nights camping.
However: I can pull into a WalMart... get some sleep... then get up and work from my camper until mid-afternoon or so... then get on the road.... In the process of doing that... between fuel, food, and miscellaneous items I would probably spend at least a hundred bucks or so at the WalMart, truckstop, or wherever I stay... So everybody wins. I'm not looking for a free ride at all.. just practical thriftiness...
I have a small honda generator for any daytime power needs... won't be running at all at night (won't need AC that time of year)... and any incidental noise I hear from the highway or nearby trucks is just the price you pay...
I do appreciate all the feedback and ideas!
