We will be going to a lacrosse tournament near Richmond in July of this year ... looking for suggestions on campgrounds. We probably wouldn't need that much to do at the actual campground although a pool would be nice for when we come back at night. I'm sure it will be warm in July :) Has to be pet friendly. Thanks!

Richmond, Virginia? California?

Oh sorry ....didn't even realize there was a Richmond anywhere else :) Yes - Richmond, Virginia

There are "Richmond"s in Virginia, California, Michigan, Indiana, Rhode Island, Maine, British Columbia, Massachusetts, and Utah, just to name a few.

There's a KOA at Exit 151 on Interstate 70 right at Richmond, Indiana. It's quite a distance from Virginia, but it is a nice campground. Um... Tom Raper RV is exit 149A on I-70, just one exist from the KOA. Sorry, don't know anything about Virginia. :(

There is a campground in Ashland, VA, not sure where in Richmond you're lacrosse is located but Ashland is north of Richmond about 20-30 minutes depending on where you need to be. In Chesterfield you have a very nice Virginia state park called Pocahontas but it is only electric/water. They do have large sites, dog friendly and have a pool but the pool can be crowded during the summer since it's about the only public pool we have and a lot of day cares and other places use it. Once again depending on where you're lacrosse is located you're 20-30 minutes away.

Virginia's state parks are awesome.

Americamps is a very good campground that is about 20 minutes north of Richmond, VA on I95. Check out their listing under the "find a campground". At the same exit is McGeorge Rolling Hills RV center. They are very good people to know if you have any RV issues.

If you would like something with a little more of a country feel, check out Cozy Acres in Powhatan, VA. Depending on where your tournament is being held, it may or may not be convenient. Powhatan is the next county over from Chesterfield.

By the Way, visited Watertown several times when my son was stationed at Fort Drum. Lots of fond memories. Beautiful there in the summer, little cold in the winter.
