Ricketts Glen State Park

We plan to go to Ricketts Glen State park if we ever get our trailer. But that's another story. There's a note saying heavey trailers should come in from the north on 487.But we are coming from the south and would have to go way out of our way to come from the north. We will be pulling a 26ft TT,weighing about 4500 lbs.How bad is the hill coming in from the south.
  • We did it both ways with an F250 diesel and 6500 lbs. tt. No problem whatsoever. you don't list what you are pulling with but if you aren't maxed out on your weight, you should be fine. Use your transmission rather than your brakes going down hill.
  • We went down that grade a few years back in our Class C. A couple of pics DW took during the descent. The real surprise was seeing the lumber truck going up.

  • It is described as a 18%, 2 mile grade (although I have seen quotes that it is 4 miles - it isn't). I had no problem pulling it with a 3000 lb trailer with a 2010 RAV4, although it was at 35 - 40MPH in 2nd gear. Going down is exciting.

I have a photo of the sign at the top of the hill warning trucks & RVs, but don't have it with me on my current trip.

    Found it:
