- Mr__CamperExplorerUsed to live in FLA and spent many weekends at RC before management changed. March is an iffy month as the snowbirds may not be gone. Especially if the weather up north is still wintry like this past year. If that's the case take what you can. Most sites there will give you plenty of room and privacy.

We are looking at Rock Crusher park for the month of March 2014. We have a 35ft 5th wheel and looking for suggestions on which sites are good and those to avoid, from those that have been there. Thanks for any help.
We will be there Jan. - March 2014 and when I called to make our reservation in April, they had very few sites left. You may already be out of luck. It's a very popular place!
There are 398 sites at Rock Crusher and while some may be considered better or in better locations than others, there really are no bad ones. There are two levels to the park separated by "heart attack hill" -- called that if you're riding a bike! :) We like the upper area. Rock Crusher is as close to a state park as you're ever going to find in a private park and the only reason we stay there. We spent January there this year and really enjoyed it and the area. Lots of very friendly and welcoming people return here every year.
We are going back mainly to kayak with the manatees and to enjoy the many springs in the Crystal River area. Homosassa and Inverness have a lot to offer too. The Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park is wonderful! We biked almost the entire 45 miles of the Withlacoochee Bike Trail in Inverness and look forward to doing it again!

PS -- The original owners were bought out by a company that then defaulted and the owners got it back! They're doing a great job of running the park again and making lots of improvements. The new WiFi system worked really well all over the campground. - Goon_F250ExplorerThanks for your replies. We are booked for March in the "upper level". They had quite a few sites open for March.

That's when a lot of folks start heading home normally. The park is almost 100% full Dec. - early March.
Maybe we'll see you there! What site will you be in?
Peg - JRS___BExplorerThis park is slowly converting more and more to annual renters.
These are not full time campers but rather people who are willing to pay 12 months rent, leave their RV in place, but actually stay there maybe only half the year.
This is especially true for those sites that have paver stones instead of grass/sand.
We had to rent our paver stone site for 12 months in order to keep it for next season, even though we left the first week in May and will not return until November. If we did not, someone else had already spoke for it and signed a lease. We were really surprised, but exercised our first right of refusal to keep it for one more year at least.
Further complicating things is that local campers come and go on the weekends and holidays, like Thanksgiving. So a site might be vacant 24 days out of 30, but the weekend people block you out of taking a given site for the whole month.
But one thing is clear, each year their business grows, thanks in large part to Joyce and Anne. - Goon_F250ExplorerWe have heard nothing but good things about this park and are looking forward to our stay. The plan is to spend the month of Feb in Bointa Springs visiting various friends and then head north to Rock Crusher. We have not booked yet in Bointa Springs, but there are openings at Imperial Bointa Springs, and we are in contact with them. This will be our first year at "full retirement" and would like to check out different places, unless of course we find the "diamond in the rough"....lol.
- Bill1374ExplorerMade my reservation before I left this March. Been going to RCC for many years now and like the park and area very much. Will be there Feb 1 for 6 weeks.
