Rock Island state park in Tenn.

I have read the reviews Rv park reviews and all seem to be good. The thing that was strange is that the last review was in 2016. I was wondering if anyone has been there recently and has their own review on it. We enjoy some privacy between us and the next site, at least some seperation. We have 32 foot travel trailer and are looking for different places to go and see. Are the sites shady and how is the road around the campground and getting in there as far as low hanging tress and stuff. Thanks for any replies.

  • I would stay at Fall Creek versus Rock Island. So much more to do at Fall Creek, the park is beautiful.

Thank you for that info so how far away is fall creek falls from Rock island. My wife loves the water falls we could ride over for a day trip

About 32 miles, we did it as a day trip. Plan on doing a little hiking and you will need to drive around to access the other side of the park.
  • We've stayed at Old Stone Park, Manchester, TN. Not much to do at the park but the sites are pretty level and large. Staying there later this month. We really like it. There are things to do in the area.
  • 1. I grew-up in the area. The roads will not be a problem.

    2. If you go, also go to Cumberland Carvens which is very close by.

    3. Do NOT miss a day trip to Fall Creek Falls one of the highest water fall in the east. The roads to FCF are OK if you enter from the South. But coming from FL you may enjoy the "excitement" of the road that enters from the north.

  • I visited Rock Island in the Spring, but I was camped at Fall Creek. From what I remember the roads are no issue and the park appeared well kept. Now the road into Fall Creek will get your attention with a 32 footer.
  • Thank you for the reply is there any things that you suggest in the areacornanybother state parks that have nice views and things to see. We have stayed at David Crokett state park in Lawernceburg it was very nice.
  • I don't know about the roads going in... but you can go to the reservations link and see a photo of each campsite, and a campground layout.
