Bottomless lakes state park near Roswell is superb I would stay there for a couple of days just for the walking opportunies

I did the route from Roswell to Fredericksburg, Tx which is on your route. I did it in the spring. Really enjoyed it.

Fredericksburg is a German town stuck out in the middle of Texas with good German food and a nice main street to walk down.

I did not find the traffic bad but my rig is smaller and I have no towed and I am comfortable driving my rig.
