Roswell and Alamogordo how much to do, how long to stay

Will be coming from Deming to Alamogordo to Roswell. Do you think if we stay 1 nite (where?) in Alamogordo and 1 nite (where?) in Roswell... would be enough to take in the sites? What have you ...

The road west from Artesia is mostly 2-lane blacktop and there is some construction. Not too much traffic, though.
