RV Camping near New River Gorge WV
I be spending a week or two in the New River Gorge area this summer. I'd love some recommendations RV parks in the area. Also, as I'm new to RVing, any hints on towing in the mountains woudl be appreciated.

www.rifrafters.com- There is an electric only campground at Babcock State Park about 24 miles from the New River Bridge. Not much in the way of shopping nearby, but one of the most photographed grist mills in the country in the park:

www.rifrafters.com - We stayed at Summer Wind RV Park in Dawson while visiting that area. Pretty views with full hookups.
- if you travel from the south, from I-81 you will take I-77 then I-64 to US19. I-77 has mountains and tunnels but just take it slow and you'll be fine. Beautiful drive. US19 doesn't have any steep grades. The bridge is on this highway. There are 2 options for camping both about 20 miles north of the bridge: Battle Run Campground a Corps of Engineers campground on Summersville Lake in Summersville WV. Water and electric with dump station. Most reasonably priced option. www.recreation.gov (get the seniors pass for discounts if you qualify). Another option at the same exit is Summersville Lake Retreat. Full hookups. Walmart and USave grocery nearby.
- Tips for towing in the mountains...... Bring enough truck for the job. Aside from that it's fairly easy. I was just through there about a month ago, and I don't recall anything too crazy.
