RV Park for Zion and Bryce NP?

Best CG to stay for a visit to Zion and Bryce NP? Large Rig, Full Hook ups? Small Pet? What about Riverside RV Park in Hatch? Any Problems for Big Rigs?

  • A few years ago we flew to Las Vegas and rented a Class C during the 3rd week of April. We stayed at Ruby's CG and had a great time. Yes, that is snow on the ground. I think there was total of 6 RVs in the entire place.

  • Zion - in Springdale, Zion Canyon RV / Quality Inn
To get to Bryce go thru the tunnel( toad goes through separate due to length restrictions)

Bryce - Rubys or KOA in Cannonville.

Both places can handle your 42' motorhome.
  • We did this trip in the spring of 2007 in our 33' fifth wheel. From the Los Angeles area, we stopped in Las Vegas, Zion (Zion River Resort), Lake Powell (Lone Rock), Sedona (Lo Lo Mai Springs), Blythe (Riviera), and back to the Los Angeles area. While in Zion, we stayed at Zion River Resort which was only 12 miles to the entrance to Zion NP. The people were very nice, we had our own patch of grass, and the pool was great. We did a day trip to Bryce NP and that worked out well.
  • We did both last summer, we are MH with trailer about 57'. I would strongly encourage you to not try to do one place for both parks, they are just too far apart to not be PIA.

If you are doing Bryce, Ruby's is the place, end of story, do not look any further.

If you are doing Zion, Zion River Resort.
  • When you tour Brice do not take your big rig into the park. there simply isn't enough room in any of the pull outs for anything bigger than a small class C.

either use a toad, or ride the busses. there are very nice parking spaces at the entrance for your big rig.

Zion restricts all but the busses into the best places in the park. and parking for a big rig is vary rare.

We used the toad and stayed in Cedar City great KOA camp in town near all services.
  • Do note that the eastern entrance to Zion, the most direct route between Zion and Bryce, has a tunnel that will not pass big rigs. You have to go around or drive a toad.
  • I stay at Ruby's for Arches and Zion RV Resort in Virgin for Zion. My dog loves both as do I. Ruby's has plenty of space if you stay in the "lower" or "back" sections, up front is too tight for me. Zion RV is a typical RV Resort.
  • I stayed at the KOA half way between them and used the toad to sightsee.
    bumpy
  • Ruby's restaurant/inn at Bryce Canyon has an Rv Park/Campground attached to it outside of the State Park--Forgot where we stayed outside of Zion Nat. Park but it was attached to a motel. Lars
