- AlabamaTravelerExplorerWe have been to Four Corners. I say that if you have never been there, GO! Its a place you need to see once but not twice. Sort of like NYC. For us, once was enough for that awful place also, but we will never go back. The West is beautiful with many places to see. See it all if you can. Happy camping.......
We stayed at the KOA in Cortez. - drillkingExplorerStay in Farmington and travel around the four corners area. It's has a lot to offer. The Four Corners monument is like a lot of tourist stops across the nation, if nothing else you get to say you were there! Weird as it seems, my wife got a kick out of Caddilac Ranch and I couldn't do much more than just shake my head! Everyone sees things differently.
- caysea7254ExplorerThunder Mountain! If I want to feel sorry for someone I will!!!!!! I just don't think the Indian Nations got a fair shake on their land. Plain and simple! End of comment! I wasn't dogging them by any means! That is not who I am!
- BigdogExplorerI would love to make a trip to the Cadillac ranch as well as to the place in the mojave desert where all the weird,in our eyes mebbee, rvs are. Is that Burning Man?

Same here! DH and I were very excited to visit the 4 corners monument!! We pulled in and there were only 2 other people there and all shops were closed and this was just in sept but in mid week. They must just open their shops on weekends. Anyway we could not help but just laugh!!!We are happy we got to see it but will not ever return. But must say that part of the country was an eye opener. The Indian Reservation we drove thru was very sad. I feel sorry for those people. They are stuck so far out and the ground is horrible so gardens would be out of the question. How on earth do these people make a living! Just Saying! Tara
I feel sorry for you. You are looking at the Navajo through your own eyes making judgments about something obviously beyond your understanding. Native Americans have been here on the landscape thousands of years before the Pharos crawled out of the sands in Egypt.
There are no "gardens" like you have in Indiana. This is the desert.
It is not about making a living. It is about their culture not yours. You have to look beyond your own judgmental ethnocentric views. Get out of your car and meet the people. They can teach you many things as they taught me.
Yes, by our standards they are living in abject poverty in a God forsaken place. But that is by our God, not the Great Spirit that they see in Nature. - Monty-RobExplorerI think we will use the Casino as a base to see the area....thanks for the info.

- TSDRV11ExplorerAnother vote for Ute Mtn Casino. Nice campground at a great price. Four corners is definitely a one time visit. I went there once just to say we did it, but will not go again.
- rarintogoExplorerWe have always enjoyed stopping by 4 Corners. Yes, you have to pay to get in. Yes it isn't much, but with kids, they have always liked stopping there. We look at the jewelry and usually buy a Navajo Taco. We usually stay at the Ute Mountain Casino south of Cortez. We have also stayed at a campground in Mancos - Mesa Verde RV Resort. I would say, if you haven't been there, give it a try. At least you can say you were there.
