Traveling with teenage boys over 4th of July. Close to Middletown CT with Amusement near by ? Anybody have recommendations?
The only one I know even close would be
Best Creek Campground at Lake Compounce Amusement Park in Bristol,Connecticut
This is the longest operating amusement park in America

I believe that would be Bear Creek; it's associated with Lake Compounce and within walking distance (basically beyond the far end of their parking lot), or I think they have a shuttle service you can take as well. Lake Compounce is a nice, well-run, medium-sized park; I was just there a week ago or so, in fact. The lines at the ticket booths were very slow-moving because a lot of people were getting season passes made. Once in the park the lines were not bad at all given it was memorial day weekend.
Quassy amusement park is in the same general neck of the woods; I haven't been there myself. I think it's a little smaller. There are a few campgrounds that are not all that far away from Quassy (within ten or twenty miles), but none really close that I can find. If I were camping and visiting it, I might check out Kettletown State Park. - blownstang01ExplorerThanks for the replies. I saw Bear Creek and Compounce online, nice to hear good things from some who've been there. I looked into Kettletown earlier.....no RV's over 28' allowed, ours is 32'.
- mdcampingExplorerBear creak is decently maintained easy in easy out with large sites. New campground has not much visual appeal as trees have not grown in yet. We were there about 3 yrs ago on the july 4th holiday, very "busy" ,your teenagers should love it, if your looking for quiet you may not.

Queasy is as you say a nice little amusement park that has been around for many years....BUT,other than Kettletown you'd be hard pressed to find ANY other campgrounds within 10 Miles or even 20 Miles....And Kettletown is still closed after 2 tornados hot it back 3 weeks ago...we live 5 miles from it
And the Poster, wants to be near Middletown and Beer Creek works....C - LuvRvnExplorerWe have stayed at Bear Creek Campground the past 2 summers. We have a 40’ 5th wheel and had no problem with sites. Yes, it is a fairly new park (this might be their 5th season). The RV sites are W/E only but the restrooms/showers are very nice and clean. There is a shuttle from campground to amusement park and I think they might offer a discount in tickets...but I’m not sure on that. We used to live in Bristol and stayed at campground to be close to family and friends. We went to the amusement park many times while living there...I think your teenagers will enjoy it.
