RV park near the Salton Sea?

Anyone know of a safe (bare bones is fine) place to leave my rig for a day (plugged in) while I go out and take pictures? Pref. 50 amp. It's gonna be hot. Wanted to stop by for a day on my way to Yuma. I've heard some horror stories about vandalism in that area. I'll probably be coming in from the west through Anza-Borego.

Thanks...

Palm Canyon CG in Anza Borrego would be my choice. Full hook ups and pretty cheap. I can't get past the smell of Salton Sea, no thanks.
  • If you are a Vet,stay at the American Legion,
the Borrego Springs Post is agood one, been there many times.
  • I would also suggest the State Park Headquarters up near Mecca.I don't know if they have 50 Amp but I know your rig would be safe. and some of the sites actually have a bit of shade. Wiest Lake County Park is another option. Closer to the Sonny Bono NWR and Brawley. I have never stayed there but drove through it to check it out and its pretty bare bones.. If your going birding, pm me and I'll send you my favorite link of my favorite birding hotspots. And then let me know if there is any water. I hear that its very low.
  • There are the state park campgrounds on the east side of the lake and usually has staff and others around as far as I know and have seen. The north one is 30a only but the south one has 50a. Have not stayed there but have driven through.

I do a lot of photo work and I could caution you to be careful in some of the areas on the west side. Email or P M me if you want more info.
