There are two nice state parks, near Hinton OK. We stayed at both in 2011. Both parks have pools and concessions. Red Rock state park in a 8 miles south of 1-40 in Hinton, it's in a valley. Very interesting history and if you like history visit the museum there in Hinton. The other is Roman Nose state park it's a ways off of 40 about 32 miles north of the Hinton exit. There is even a golf course at this park, horseback ridiing and a motel. Both are very nice. Like I said not real convenient to 1-40 but worth the drive. Red Rock is very cool and shaded. Roman Nose has a couple of fishing lakes.
