We were looking for a long term stay park for the winter.
Called this one particular park and asked if we could visit to look at sites, and if they allowed dogs.
Was told yes, come on down.
Drove 80 miles ONE WAY to get there.
We were driving the late model truck in our signature and it was/is clean. NO dents.
Found the owner, and after a short conversation, he gave us a list of open sites.
As we were looking at sites, he approached the truck was told that "This is not going to work out with the dogs." (Two retired racing Greyhounds)
I am not mad because the owner would not accept our dogs, his campground, his rules.
I am disappointed that he changed his mind about dogs, after we drove 80 miles. If he made his decisions on breeds of dogs or us, as possible campers, he could of said so, on the telephone, BEFORE we spent the money and the time driving there.
I cautioned others in the review to make sure of the rules before going there because they are subject to the whims of the owner.
It was NOT my first review. I had posted others because I felt the concept was sound.
First time, ever, being turned away. Last time I will contribute to RV Park Reviews.
What reason was given for the rejection?
That is another issue. No reason given, no response to two e-mails, just never posted.
RV Park reviews overall does a good job.I imagine they censor reviews if they become too personal. Your comments about dog rules are at the whim of the owner may be true however, you should have dropped the emotion and simply stated "Park must see and observe behavior all pets in person before approving long term stays."
I think the re worded politically correct version alerts other campers to the issue without insulting the CG owner.
I imagine the censorship comes into play when the reviews have the potential to be libelous or slanderous.
If RV parks reviews allowed every review to be posted without some form of censorship it would become a mess.
Much in the way the forum censores post to maintain order and decorum.
RV Park reviews must censor reviews in attempt to keep reviews factual and less subjective.
In the end RV park reviews is the best resource available to share CG reviews. No it isn't perfect, but it works.
Use it to share your review of the park. Keep it factual, avoid any comments that refer to specific individuals and you will have fewer censorship issues.
Personally I just want to know the basics. Is the park clean, ran in an orderly fashion, big rig friendly, have decent 50amp electric amenities, pools etc.
The attitude and friendliness of the staff is totally subjective and unimportant to me. I much more interested in the facilities and infrastructure than the staff.
