As mentioned above, that's what RV Park Reviews is for.
rvparkreviews is tainted in my opinion. I have had reviews never posted and others deleted.
Plus one man's meat is another mans poison; I strongly disliked Bayley's in Maine while other people rave it. I detest 700 space commercial campgrounds with hundreds of wilding children unwatched.
And I don't care if a place calls itself a resort if they don't charge for stuff they don't have.
If its clean, spacious and quiet or has a visual feature like a lake, stream or vista and its $25 a night; call yourself a resort. Better than a real resort with a golf course, clubhouse, pool and tennis courts I won't use for $50.
Part of the fun of RV'ing is it is an adventure. You buys your tickets and you takes your chances.
I agree many county and city parks are great. I also think reserveamerica is a terrible trend.
Agreed about reserveamerica and sardine cgs. I will say I do use the rvparkreviews in addition to asking others. I find a combi of the two methods gives me a fairly clear picture of a place.
Btw, I have seen several cgs with a fenced area for off-leash dog exercise. Some, like the DC KOA have a receptacle and baggies provided for pooch clean-up too. It's a nice amenity that more cgs should consider providing.
