RV Parking at or near DFW aiarport

We're headed for Texas in Nov. - Dec. in our Class C. This is the first trip anywhere in the winter. Then, flying out of DFW in mid Dec, returning to DFW in early January to resume RV travels.

Any suggestions on parking the motorhome while on the air trips? (29 foot, nothing in tow). I couldn't see anything about "oversized vehicles" on the DFW website. Or, any suggested campgrounds with a storage area?

And, any specific "must see / must do" while in Texas in Dec or January?

  • Thanks to all for the advice and suggestions.
Next time (2014-15 ?), I'll plan to use a different airport. (Already have the tickets, so I'm stuck with DFW). Parking the RV somewhere else, out of the immediate DFW area taking trains or bus or even short flight to DFW is another thought...

  • Try North lake village, in Roanoake, Tx.
They have some storage places. We stayed there for 60 days after we sold the house and
    before I retired.
It is about 20 moles west of the DFW AIR PORT.
if not they may know of some place.

Ended up going down to the RGV and flying out of the RGV. Had the MH plugged in, in a secured park, with neighbors watching it. May have added $50 to the plane ticket, but the ease of flying out of the RGV (and not driving the MH in DFW) was worth every penny of it.

This is what I would suggest as well, Airports & many RV Parks in McAllen & Harlingen.

Jan & Feb in the Dallas area can be very cold with ice & snow. If you want warmer winter weather you will want to be well south of San Antonio.
  • On our way down south last winter my Mother passed away while we were in the DFW area. I had a heck of a time finding a place to leave my MH while flying back north.

Cant recall the cost but I had no choice

There is also a campground in grapvine you may be able to park long term and hire a car service to take you to airport
  • I live just west of DFW and don't recall ever seeing an. RV in any of the airport parking lots. I'd call the airport and any of the commercial lots and check. I do know your height would be an issue at any of the terminal lots. My advice would be to check with the local RV storage lots and see if you can store by the week. I really don't think you'll have much luck at the airport, with the holiday travelers filling the lots. It's not too early to check; many of the commercial lots will accept reservations.
