RV Show prices

Just wondering what everyone who goes to or has gone to RV shows pays for admission to the shows? Here in the Northeast, the prices range from Free to $10 per person. At least for the shows I've attended or thought about attending.

  • We are going to one in Salem, OR today. They charge $7 admission, but we got a set of free tickets from RV Trader so it won't cost anything. I highly recommend going to several shows before you buy. Look at a lot of different brands, talk to other owners while there, have fun!
Be careful buying at RV shows, do not buy on impulse, know how much the trailers MSRP is and try to get >20% off, or walk away.
  • The Chicago Rv Show is next weekend. I believe they are $12 at the door plus another $10 or so for parking. It’s near O’Hare in a city that uses red light cameras to generate money. It’s a good show but I’m not sure the parking and long walk to get in is worth it. I went to the Greater Chicago RV Show a few weeks ago. Tickets were half price for Good Sam members along with free parking. A smaller show in comparison, but much less hassle to get there
  • I've never paid to go to a show where they are charging me to buy something. I just go to the dealers and visit their lots. Never heard of a dealer giving anyone a 'bargain' at a RV show either. Usually people that buy at one are getting the extra costs of a show tacked onto the price.

One time I was at a dealers lot a few days after they had participated at a nearby RV show and noticed they hadn't picked up the printed price lists for the show, but they'd returned the lot price breakdown sheets. So there were fliers with two prices. One for the show was $1,000 more than the one on the lot.

There is an advantage of there being many different makes and models though and for some that would be helpful to narrow down a choice.
  • We have one coming in Auburn Maine in April. $8 per person. Don't need to go but I may just to get out after a long winter.
  • Thanks Bob. There's a show in Erie too this weekend. $6 per person. We are going to the big show in Syracuse at the Fair Grounds March 3rd. Huge show and the charge at that one is $10 per person but they offer a $2 off per family coupon so it ends up being $9 each for us. We make a weekend out of it and go to the Destiny mall too.
  • Today and tomorrow Buffalo RV is having a show in Niagara Falls.
No fee, but street parking. Only one vendor, with several lines. Not to pushy and only one salesman to talk to.
